A visit to Sligo Folk Park is a true experience of rural and Irish heritage. In the heart of Riverstown (1 mile from Ross House), the cultural history and heritage of the whole Sligo region comes to life. This is a place which is great fun for young and old. Children can discover how their great-grandparents used to live and those who are still young at heart can take trip down memory lane to rediscover how life used to be in the old days.
The region provides good salmon, trout, coarse and sea angling. As no closed season applies to coarse angling in the Irish Republic, it is possible to enjoy an angling holiday here at any time of year and we can supply boats, tackle and engines at a reasonable fee those who are keen. Lough Arrow, one of the better known Irish limestone lakes is 3 miles form Ross House is open for Trout fishing 1st March to 30th September. Late April provides good "duck fly" fishing and the hardy annual mayfly appears with the Hawthorn and the Lilac blossom. Sligo Heritage & Genealogy Centre - If you’re looking to trace your family tree of ancestors who hailed from County Sligo this is the place to go. Roman Catholic Church, the earliest of which commenced in 1762; Church of Ireland dating from 1762; records of Presbyterian congregations, starting at 1840; and Methodist also start in 1840.

At Carrowmore, the megalithic tombs are an impressive reminder of the ancient people from whom we are descended. 30 monuments in varying degrees of preservation can be visited.
