Explore Strokestown Park, King House and Clonalis, Castle Coole, Florencecourt and Marble Arch Caves. Open February - November. Children over 12 welcome. MC/Visa. 4 en suite rooms.

"The breakfasts were delicious, and the service could not have been more generous. The house is a fabulous place, covered with creepers, a view out over the Shannon, and with an old-world charm. The double room that I was in was a good size, and there are two larger double+twin-bed rooms that are really very spacious. I would highly recommend the Hollywell".

"A beautiful country house style guesthouse in peaceful surroundings with stunning views of the river. It was hard to believe we were only a couple of minutes walk from the town centre as the surrounding trees, beautiful shrubbery and singing birds gave the feel of an island retreat! The house has been beautifully preserved and the rooms are bright, airy and spacious. The antique furnishings and attention to detail down to the paintings adorning the walls and books casually placed on shelves and tables throughout all contribute to the authentic character of this beautiful and historic country home. There are many beautifully presented country guesthouses throughout Ireland, but what makes Hollywell unique, apart from the aforementioned river views, is undoubtedly the warm hospitality of Tom and Rosaleen Maher, the proprietors and hosts. The home cooked breakfast is outstanding, made all the more enjoyable by the relaxed atmosphere and charming company. I cannot recommend Hollywell strongly enough."tripadvisor.com

Green Gate, Paul Chatenoud
Ardvally, Ardara, Co. Donegal
074 954 1546
B&B from  €45.00 to €55.00

In Paul Chatenoud's words- “The Green Gate” is the complete opposite of the American way of life
- The 43% of the nurses and the 39% of the doctors who smoke are very welcome
- The Green Gate is not a fake, pink, new, stupid, American Disneyland Castle. It is a real, green, old, radiant Irish thatched cottage.
- The Green Gate has no TV and no computer (so no email).
- The Green Gate doesn't accept payment in advance. He prefers to keep the rooms for people who appreciate and enjoy what he has created here.  Some people have difficulties to understand that money is not his first aim in life.

There are slate windowsills and rough cast walls, not a wardrobe in sight. A tall man could crack his head on a ceiling and the bathwater is a rich peaty brown. But that is not the point.  The Green Gate is the greatest little B&B in Ireland. It is simply one of the things you must do in Ireland like kissing Blarney Stone or climbing Crook Patrick.  - The Sunday Times

Many brides have spent the eve of their weeding relaxing in th luxurious comfort offered by Kingsfort.

"I have just come back from a trip to my native country and I came across a fabulous accommodation located in the village of Ballintogher in County Sligo. Everything was perfect from the friendly welcome to the newly decorated bedrooms and the food....Our plan initially was to spend a day in Sligo before heading to Donegal for a week. But we were so enchanted by Kingsfort we spent our entire holiday there. The house is a dream - it's like walking back in time but with all the modern conveniences. I felt like a character from 'Pride and Prejudice' - the old fasioned laticed windows, the cosy sitting room with its inviting library, the converted coach house and the little laneway to the village. The bedrooms are all decorated with exquisite taste - there is a country feel throughout with a sophisticated edge. Every morning I was spoiled with the sheer variety of fare on offer; from the traditional Irish breakfast to yoghurts, fresh juice, freshly baked breads and croissants and coffee which could match the best in Italy. The welcome was warm and friendly and from the moment I set foot in Kingsfort I felt like I was at home....." tripadvisor.com
