SUNNYSIDE HOUSE Dieter & Bridget Koston
|
|
| A turn of the century doctor's residence, modernised but still exuding the easy charm of the era. The relaxing gardens, which slope down to a little stream, provide fresh fruit, herbs, honey & vegetables for seasonal cuisine. Ample information on places of interest, open gardens & houses, is readily available in rooms. The village on the lough side is a stroll down the hill. The lake sprang from a fairy well and the name is derived from the Irish word for a calf (Gamhna). In the 500s, a monastery was established on Inchmore Island but was raided by the Vikings in 804. This is a really charming corner of the hidden Ireland, where time passes gently and relaxation is certain. Open all year. Dinner 7.30pm, book by 2pm.. Credit cards. 4 bedrooms. | |
