To Coolcarrigan House

The house is now occupied by the 6th generation of the same family. An attractive Georgian house built in the 1830’s, originally used as a shooting lodge, It is just over 15 minutes from the K Club and 45 minutes from Central Dublin.

Ideal for any residential corporate or other groups of up to about 14.  The house has 6 principal bedrooms all with bathrooms and 2 lesser bedrooms which share a bathroom.  The four reception rooms are generously large and will provide a stunning setting for your group and/or for entertaining other groups during the Ryder Cup. It is a very private location, being nearly a mile from the public road.  The gardens consist of acres of rhododendrons, rockeries, shrubs, and specimen trees, mostly chosen by plantsman, Sir Harold Hillier, and  there is a small private Episcopalian church in a lovely woodland setting surrounded by a moat on the estate.  The house has just undergone a major refurbishment.

A hidden oasis on the edge of the Bog of Allen, the estate of 1200 acres, has wonderful parkland, avenues of overhanging beech and chestnut trees, lakes and wildlife sanctuaries. 14 acres of gardens and arboretum with one of the best and most unusual collections of shrubs and trees in Ireland.

A private tour of The Guinness Brewery to sample Irish beer followed by a visit to two private homes of 18th Century Dublin with television presenter, author and academic Robert Vance and a French speaking guide. .  The highlight will be a visit to the private home of a modern day diva, Ms Desiree Shortt. Her home, Mahaffey House, is a five storey, 22- room Georgian terrace house built in 1785 by Charles Thorpe - stuccodore, who used his considerable skill to create the magnificent plasterwork in the hall and the main rooms.
The present owner, Desiree Shortt, has lived in the house since 1975. She is one of Dublin's most genial and eccentric hostess's. A successful career in the advertising industry was brought to an end by a fall during a polo game. Desiree reinvented herself to become Ireland's leading China Restorer. The Georgian Dublin discovery concludes with a private tour of Desiree's house. The house has provided a beautiful backdrop to many Hollywood films, most recently including Pierce Bronson's drama 'Laws of Attraction'.

Entertainment

A casino evening provides all the atmosphere and appearance of any real live Casino in Las Vegas, Monte Carlo or anywhere else in the world. We use full sized Blackjack and Roulette tables, each staffed by fully trained and glamorous croupiers/dealers, whose job is not only to manage the games, but also to join in the evening's fun with the players, thereby ensuring that everyone has a good time.

The only difference from the 'real thing' is the betting structure! Playing with 'fun money' guests accumulate chips but the element of competition is still very much in evidence as each player is trying to win more than the other.
