Wadesfort HouseIn Carlow's Barrow Valley |

A charming 19th century house, with a walled garden, approached via a Lime tree lined avenue. It is surrounded by 13 acres of parkland, including a water garden with a lake. The house, which was originally built for Beauchamp Bartholomew Bagenal. of the nearby Bagenalstown in the late Georgian period, has a delightful gothic feel, the stone flagged hall leading through a pointed archway to an ornate main staircase. Tall French doors lead out onto acres of lawn, studded with specimen trees.
Carlow 8 miles, Kilkenny 17, Dublin 56, Rosslare Car Ferry 53 miles. Race courses at Gowran Park, Punchestown, Naas and the Curragh; Championship golf courses at Mount Wolsey, Kilkenny and Mount Juliet all within about 25 minutes; fishing and cruising on the River Barrow.
The area is rich in prehistoric remains (including the largest dolmen, or stone age tomb, in Ireland). There is a riding school nearby, the Blackstairs Mountains are ideal for hiking, and Kilkenny and Carlow are both big towns with lots to do, from shopping malls and cinemas to castles and cathedrals.
TV, video, c.d., laundry, etc. The present owner has only recently acquired the house, so everything is newly re-furbished.
