The location of the Castle is excellent situated on the Athlone/ Longford road, 8 Km from the main Dublin/Galway road, only 3 miles from Glasson Village and North of Athlone town, Ninety minutes from Dublin, less than 1 hour from Galway city and 10 minutes from rail connentions.   Generally speaking the castle is a wonderful place to stay.   It is fairly ghost free, has a wonderful medieval atmosphere and a great setting on the lake.  The colour scheme is perhaps a little vivid, but no doubt that is very medieval! Like any medieval building it does have the inevitable damp problems, but limited to one bedroom.  The darkness of the kitchen need not concern guests as it is only let with catering staff.
Evening meals start at € 50, € 60, € 75.  We would rate it as a very unique 3* property
