There are plenty of alternative activities for non-fishing guests. Hill walking, gardens, historic buildings, prehistoric sites, Horse riding, golf, Potteries, art exhibitions, craft shops, tweed, and knitwear. The Southwest is famous for sightseeing and spectacular mountain and coastal scenery. There are many gourmet restaurants and excellent pubs within easy reach.

The estate is 32 miles (51km) from Cork on the main road to Bantry, easy to find. Supermarket open to 11pm, seven days a week, three miles away in Ballineen. Only twelve miles away the Clonakilty area includes a model (child sized) village, a restored prehistoric ring fort, and several beautiful little-used beaches. On the farm, wild flora and fauna flourish. Over half of the land is either in broadleaf woodland or has been devoted to organic farming for the last eight years, the remainder is farmed conventionally and provides private access to all parts of the fishery.
