Knappogue Castle Wedding Reception Details

Available: Mid - October to Mid - April ONLY

Our wedding receptions are exclusive with mediaeval theme throughout and differ immensely from all other wedding venues.

Minimum numbers 80. Maximum numbers 150

Room for 100 extra guests for "Afters" if desired.

On arrival, the Bride & Groom are received at the front door with complimentary champagne by the Butler and Ladies of the Castle, dressed in mediaeval costume.

A Harpist & Violinist play in the beautifully furnished reception rooms whilst guests partake of a complimentary tea/coffee or reception drink.

During this time, the photographer usually takes photographs around the castle, in the formal garden, or in the 15th. and 19th. century sections of the castle.

After reception drinks, guests assemble in The Dalcassian Hall where they are invited to forget about the outside world and return to the 15th. Century.

Here guests are treated to a brief history of the castle, some madrigals etc..

Once all the guests have taken their seats in the Banquet Hall, the Bride & Groom are escorted by a Lady of the Castle into the Banquet Hall and up onto a rostrum   where they receive the "Sword of Office" i.e. become Lord & Lady to rule over the banquet feast for the evening.

The tables are decorated with brightly coloured "runners", ivy and laurel, candles etc. and guests wear brightly coloured medieval bibs during the meal.

Harp & violin music is played throughout the meal and each course is punctuated by songs, rendered by our Mediaeval Castle Singers.

The Lord (Groom) is briefed by our Butler and advised to have a guest thrown into the dungeon - this is usually someone who gives him a hard time on stag night  - it is fun and has a little ceremony attached.

If the Bride wishes to have a song dedicated to someone special such as a Granny, Godmother etc., our Entertainers will be delighted to do so.

After the meal, speeches and toasts, our Entertainers present a delightful 40 min. pageant with music, song & dance involving several costume changes.
