Beautifully appointed Mews houses in a
magnificent courtyard setting.
Headfort is acknowledged to be one of the finest estates in Ireland. The estate consists
of Headfort House, Headfort Golf Club, exquisite gardens and the Courtyards. The heritage
town of Kells, whose origins predate the 9th century and where the magnificent Book of
Kells originated, is only one mile from the estate and has many charming pubs,
restaurants, and shops. Once through the ornate gates, the main drive passes mature
plantations of magnificent trees and gentle, open parkland to the original Georgian
quadrangular farmstead built in 1759. The Main Courtyard, faces towards an 18th century
parterre garden. The Lower Courtyard has a pair of mirror image buildings, each with
twelve residences and private gardens, which overlook a formal reflecting pool framed with
rows of semi mature lime trees. All the houses are soundproofed, and have underfloor and
overhead heating systems, elegant cornices and some houses have antique pine ceiling
beams, flooring in terracotta tiles, Portuguese limestone or French oak, open fireplaces,
master bedrooms en-suite with power shower, ground floor guest bathroom, and fully
equipped Neff kitchens. The Lower Courtyard has an airier and more elegant look with
twelve beautifully crafted residences on either side of the reflecting pool. As in the
Main Courtyard all the houses are fitted to the highest standards and also have a private
garden. Headfort Golf Club designed by Christy O'Connor Jnr is one of the finest 18-hole
parkland courses in the country and runs adjacent to the Main Courtyard. |
