This 13th Century tower house is situated in a quiet location, about 3 miles east of Gort and 10 miles from Galway city. Its location almost on the border with Co. Clare, makes this an excellent base for exploring the many attractions in the area, from the lively city of Galway to the fascinating geology and botany of the desolate plateau known as The Burren. Also within easy driving distance are the breathtakingly beautiful Cliffs of Moher and the gardens at Coole Park. |
The nearest golf course is 15 minutes' drive away and the championship links at Lahinch can be reached in approximately one hour. For those who enjoy fishing and hunting, facilities are available close at hand.
The property has recently been restored by its American owner, retaining the authentic character of a 13th castle, while providing modern amenities. The accommodation is not high luxury, and those who have stayed here in the past have enjoyed it rather for its great atmosphere. Facilities include television and central heating throughout. A baby's crib and highchair can be provided on request.
