Gaultier Lodge is an 18th Century Georgian house situated in Woodstown on the south eastern coast of Co. Waterford. The surrounding area is ideal for country walks with excellent views over the Suir Estuary to Dunmore East, where one can enjoy a leisurely lunch over a glass of wine.
Woodstown is an ideal base for touring Cork, Waterford, The Suir Valley and Wexford via the Passage East car ferry to Ballyhack, the quaint picturesque town of New Ross, or the spectacular landscape of the Hook Head are all within easy reach.
One can also drive to Kilkenny up through the Barrow Valley via the charming towns of Inistioge (Where Circle Of Friends was filmed) and Thomastown and visit the many craft shops en route. Dublin is over 2 hours but under 3 hours. Cork is about 1 hr.
In Waterford itself there are tours of Waterford Crystal and Reginald's Tower. For those who prefer less crowded places Mount Congreve Gardens or the Shell House at Curraghmore are delightful.

The area around Gaultier lodge is
reputed to have he highest number if hours of sunshine in Ireland. There are
many equestrian facilities in the area where horses can be hired out for hunting
or for lessons. There is also and excellent Polo School at Whitfield Court.

From Waterford take the R684 towards Dunmore East, for 6 miles. Then after passing a yellow thatched pub called Kennedy's take the 2nd left turn which is sign posted for Woodstown 4 kilometers. Drive to the beach and turn right at the T junction. Continue along beside the beach for about 1/4 of a mile and Gaultier Lodge is behind a large high wall on the left. |
