Drawos Lodge is a luxurious 2 story traditional stone house, set in 2 acres of landscaped gardens with sea frontage on Kenmare Bay, 3 Km away from Kenmare town. Newly built, but with traditional materials - oak flooring throughout the ground floor, Elm wood kitchen made by a local crafts man, and an Aga range.
The House is in one the most picturesque parts of the world and you can enjoy the full view of Kenmare Bay the Magillycuddy reeks and the Dromughty River, which runs through the land.
The lodge is designed to sleep 6, with an option to rent out an adjoining apartment the will sleep an extra 4 people. The Master bedroom with a King size sleigh bed, an ensuite bathroom that has a double-ended Jacuzzi bath, power shower, & a walk in wardrobe. It is a heaven to relax in and enjoy the sunset over Kenmare Bay.
The Double Bedroom, with a traditional wrought iron bed, has an ensuite bathroom with a double ended bath and power shower.
The twin room has 2 single beds that can change in to a double. The ensuite bathroom has a large showering area with a traditional style shower.
The kitchen is the heart of the house, even if you don’t cook. Just sit and relax, enjoying a bottle of wine! For those that do like to cook it has all the mod con’s, a traditional Aga, double cooker, dishwasher, etc. The dining area adjoins the kitchen but is set in a circular room that takes full advantage off the view over the bay and the Dromughty river and an ideal spot to entertain.
The large living area has an open fireplace an alcove with a widow seat, ideal in which to relax and read a good book. It also has TV and video.
The kitchen and living room both lead on to the patio where you can enjoy your day in the sun or even eat al fresco on an old style barbeque.
The Apartment
The Apartment has two double bed rooms with ensuite power showers. The kitchen has all mod cons and adjoins the dining and living area. This is ideal if you would like to invite guests but would like some privacy or if you have a bigger party and need more space as the apartment can have direct access to the main house or can be cut off. The Apartment will not be let if the main house is occupied.
Grounds
The house is on 2 acres of land with a wooded area which gives you complete privacy, a vast lawn and meadow with wild flower. There is a lovely path that leads along the riverbank and some nice shady spot ideal for a bit of fishing. There is 200 meters of sea frontage, which is 15 meters away from the house, where you jump off the diving board (in high tide only) or you can use the cove. There is also a boat slip.
Area Attractions
The house is located on the Ring of Beara, 3 km away from Kenmare town, which is renowned for the best restaurants and Pub’s in Ireland. There are two 18-hole golf courses in Kenmare, you can go river or sea fishing from your living room or visit the Sheen or the Blackwater which is famous for wild salmon fishing. Horse riding, bike hire or guided walks available locally or just relax in the home away from home.
Bed linen and towels are provided. Cleaner and cook can be provided at an
extra cost, please request prior to booking. Golfing Fishing and tours can be
pre booked.
