CLONE HOUSE
Co Wicklow

There has been a house at Clone since the 1600s when the O'Byrne chieftain
first built a shooting lodge hidden here in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains. Pure spring
water, crackling log fires, tranquility and beauty are all part of the attraction of
Clone. Clone has been completely restored and the elegant rooms are decorated with colours copied
from the Victorian colour scheme of 1848. The wide pine floor boards have been sanded and
polished. In keeping with 18th century style for minor house, most of the windows are
uncurtained and use the solid timber shutters to exclude light and drafts at night.
Clone is is an ideal location for a family get together, with plenty of space. It
also makes a great centre for management retreats,
and has plenty of spacious reception rooms. If you choose to take Clone
fully staffed you will find that the food is quite outstanding -
Carla combines fabulous fresh ingredients, many from local producers with a flair that
comes from learning her culinary skills in the kitchens of Florence.
