AVONMORE HOUSE, IN THE BLACKWATER VALLEY

A charming school master's house in West Waterford, between the Knockmealdown Mountains and the salmon laden River Blackwater.  Sleeps 7
Avonmore is set in mature gardens, well wooded and lawned,  above the picturesque village of Ballyduff with views across the Blackwater River valley. 
 
It has a relaxing living room, a dining room, and a library,  all with open fires.  It is comfortable in all seasons.    The kitchen, which has a breakfast area, has an oil fired range cooker, & a back up gas cooker, a dishwasher and a washer/dryer.  One of the delights of the house is the large South facing conservatory.
Upstairs there are three double bedrooms, a small single bedroom and 2 bathrooms, plus another full bathroom  downstairs
The extensive well maintained gardens include a croquet lawn, terraces and an orchard.  
 

The village has four pubs, two grocery stores, a post office, a hardware store and an acclaimed restaurant. Fishing, golf, Irish musicales and Lismore Castle are all within minutes. Traditional song, dance and storytelling evenings are held in the village Booley House in August. During the winter months, be on the lookout for the Ballyduff theatre festival. Several visiting groups also put on plays throughout the year, the Druid Theatre group from Galway are regular visitors.  For walking it is set at the base of the Knockmealdown Mountains.  The Blackwater is famous for fishing.  Kilkenny, Waterford and Cork are all within easy touring distance.

 

A Refundable security deposit of 150 Euros is required.
