An Exploration of London City
Full day tour of London. Meet your guide, Mr Archie AFFLECK-GRAVES (011 44 7976 371673) at 10am at the hotel. Your driver guide will give you an overview of the capital. You will discover the main sightseeing
attractions such as Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Piccadilly Circus, The
Tower of London, and Tower Bridge and so on. Archie knows the city
intimately and will chat to you, tailoring the day to your interests. You
can spend a lifetime in London and not see all of it - it is over 2,000 years
old! Dr Johnson, the great 18th century intellectual, said that "when
a man is tired of London, he is tired of life".
London has two cores - the city, where the Tower of London
stands, which was where the Romans set up in the 1st century AD, and
Westminster, the royal palace and centre of administration. Around these
cores are Kensington and Knightsbridge, the home of Harrods, museums and Hyde
Park, Mayfair, where between Oxford Street and Jermyn Street are to be found all
the art galleries, designer shops and most elegant real estate, and
Bloomsbury, home of the British Museum. All around the city are literary
reminders - from Harry Potter and the Da Vinci Code to Dickens and
Shakespeare. The auction houses of Christies and Sothebys are also
fascinating treasure houses of the world's heritage.
Evening transfer at 5:45PM to Restaurant for a pre theatre supper. This
